Shoptrace is an offline-first Android application designed to help users scan shopping receipts, track expenses, and gain insights from their own shopping history.
We are committed to keeping your data private, secure, and under your control.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data You Provide
Shoptrace processes the following data only on your device:
Receipt photos captured by the camera
Extracted receipt text (OCR results)
Shopping data such as:
merchant names
item names
prices
quantities
totals
dates
Shopping plans and item quantities
Brand aliases created by you
This data is used solely to provide the app’s core functionality.
2.2 Automatically Collected Data
Shoptrace does NOT automatically collect:
Personal identity information
Contact information
Location data
Device identifiers
Advertising identifiers
Usage analytics
Crash analytics
Behavioral tracking data
3. How Your Data Is Used
Your data is used only inside the app to:
Parse and display receipt information
Show shopping history and insights
Compare prices from your past purchases
Reconcile shopping plans
Improve accuracy based on your edits (locally)
Shoptrace does not use your data for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
4. Data Storage & Processing
All data is stored locally on your device.
Shoptrace does not upload your data to any server.
Shoptrace does not use cloud storage by default.
There is no account system and no login required.
If you choose to export your data (e.g., CSV export), this action is initiated manually by you.
5. Data Sharing
Shoptrace does NOT share your data with:
Third-party companies
Advertisers
Analytics providers
Data brokers
Social networks
Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it yourself.
6. Permissions
Shoptrace may request the following permissions:
Camera
Used only to scan receipt photos.
Storage (optional)
Used only to save receipt images and exported files locally.
These permissions are used strictly for their intended purpose.
7. Third-Party Services
Shoptrace does NOT integrate with:
Advertising SDKs
Analytics SDKs
Tracking SDKs
Social media SDKs
Any OCR processing is performed locally on the device or via system-provided capabilities.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data remains on your device until you delete it.
You can delete:
individual receipts
shopping plans
all app data by uninstalling the app
Uninstalling Shoptrace permanently removes all locally stored data.
9. Children’s Privacy
Shoptrace is not specifically designed for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data by:
Storing data locally
Avoiding unnecessary permissions
Avoiding network transmission of personal data
However, no method of storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for securing access to your device.
11. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.
Any changes will be reflected within the app or app listing, with an updated “Last updated” date.
